The CNA - Infection Control class introduces entry-level healthcare workers to all aspects of infection control. Students will learn to protect their clients, their loved ones, and themselves. Topic covered include: how infection spreads, preventing the spread of infection through the use of personal protective equipment and environmental cleanliness, and managing infection control in a Covid-19 world.

The nurse aide module is the core course of the Certified Nurse Aide training and apprenticeship program. There are three components.

1. Virtual classroom lecture with a live instructor via Zoom teleconferencing.

2. Live skills laboratory training and practice

3. Clinical experience in a nursing home

Participants must successfully complete all three components to pass the course.

This 15-hour module prepares students to work with dementia patients using appropriate language, movement, and understanding of the condition.

This 40-hour course brings practicing general nurse aides back to the classroom to prepare for their State of Michigan Certified Nurse Aide examination.

Participants will bring their experience in the field to the classroom as they review the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully pass the examination.

This course will be offered only when Prometric, the State of Michigan CNA testing body re-opens certification examination services.
